This large auction will include a broad range of books and ephemera items from area estates and consignments. The catalog includes 400 lots, offering approximately 5,000 volumes. The books range from special, limited editions to large groups of excellent dealer and reading stock. Highlights of this auction include early works by Jules Verne, an 1846 landmark cookbook and a first edition of Arthur Murray's "The Modern Dances." Also included is a folio 2-volume set of Ebers' "Picturesque Egypt", an early 1852 copy of Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (complete in two volumes), and a nine-volume group of John Broadhead's "Documents Relating to the Colonial History of the State of New York." Other important titles will be included in the areas of genealogy, literature, technology and many other genres.

We have also discovered that when tie bids occur during the live bidding, eBay may indicate an eBay bidder holds the top bid, when in fact it is a floor bidder who wins the auction. *** PLEASE READ ***: We have found in the course of selling thousands of lots on eBay Live, that on rare occasion, the final bidder information is not correctly recorded on eBay. Some items which were actually won by floor bidders are sometimes listed as being won by eBay bidders, and vice versa. It is not a widespread problem, but it has happened a few times during our past auctions. We assume this is the result of the volume of data that is being transfered simultaneously and inevitable technical imperfections. We are diligent to accurately enter the final bid information, but these occasional discrepancies seem unavoidable. Our records take precedence over bidding results indicated on eBay and our invoicing will reflect the true final results. We regret this slight amount of confusion, if you wish to avoid the small risk of these technical mis-recordings, please contact us to enter absentee bids, or attend the live auction. By placing your bid on eBay, you accept the risk of any such bid history discrepancies. Again, we do not discriminate between bidders in any way, our goal is 100% customer satisfaction and if it were in our power, we would eliminate these discrepancies completely. Thank you.
*** PLEASE READ ***: Please note before bidding that we used a FIXED RATE shipping charge system. We have used fixed rate shipping since we began selling books on eBay in 1998 and continue to believe that it is the most fair method of billing for shipping. Bidders receive no surprises about shipping amounts after the auction and are able to accurately pinpoint the amount they will pay for a lot, delivered to them. Our shipping prices are based upon distance, packing needs, and weight. Please consider the shipping amount with all your bidding on eBay and set maximum bids accordingly. It is our belief that the only truly fair system of shipping charges is the fixed, published rate included in the auction listing.
We guarantee all items to be as represented, please apply your own judgment and expertise to any characteristics beyond those we have specifically stated as these items are selling as-is. Please bring any problems to our attention immediately, we are eager to handle all problems.
We recommend attending our live preview before each auction. 20% buyer's premium will apply. Buyer pays for fixed shipping (amount indicated within each listing), FOB within the US by USPS Media Mail. International orders may require mandatory insurance. If you are an international buyer, and are concerned about shipping cost, please contact us before bidding. Domestic insurance is available at $1.30 per $50.00 coverage, rates for international insurance can be quite volatile, so please ask for a quote. NOTE: all shipments with a total hammer value of $200.00 or greater will require mandatory insurance coverage and that charge will be added to the shipping amount on the invoices. All packages shipping to a New York address, or picked up at the auction location, will be subject to New York State 8% sales tax unless a valid New York State Re-Sale or Tax Exempt Certificate is presented. We will email invoices to all successful bidders on the Monday following each auction. Thank you for bidding.
