Description
The December 1775 edition of Gentleman's Magazine printed in London, 55 pages plus engraving on an antiquity from the Herculaneum. GREAT content in this issue regarding the American Revolution: A letter in response to John Wesley's famous "Address to the Americans", with many criticisms, and signed "Americus". The response particularly questions Wesley on his comments on taxation of the Colonies. Two and one-half pages. A Plan for the American Confederacy with appears to be an early attempt at what became the "Articles of Confederation". This being brought to the Assembly of North Carolina. Two pages. In addition debate is Parliament and in the Colonies with other discussions of the troubles in America. Interesting brief on the practice of "tar and feathering" practiced in the colonies. Much else. Very good, magazine not bound, measures 5 x 8".
