TWO SIMILAR GOLD AND SILVER THREAD EMBROIDERED RANK BADGES, one for a 5th rank showing a silver pheasant in relief amongst clouds and auspicious objects above waves and bands, the other uncut and showing a buddhistic lion in a similar setting, probably a military badge, Qing, 11" x 12" (2) Provenance: The Revd. F.H. Sprent (1861-1957), missionary in China from 1883-1915, and thence by descent.
