Large, horizontally carved Butterfly Mask. It also can represents a hawk/ bat or an owl. Decorated with natural white, red and black earth pigments. Made in Burkina Faso by the Bobo ethnic group.. This dramatic mask, painted on both sides, represents a butterfly or a bird with outstretched wings. Commonly known as the "Butterfly" Mask", and is worn by holding the mask by a rope attached to the back. Minor losses overall very good condition. Vintage artifact around 30 to 60 years old.
