One of the most popular of the western fifths, the Gold Dust has become a “must-have” bottle. The Gold Dust Kentucky Bourbon was a very popular brand from the moment it was introduced to the west by Barkhouse Bros. through their agent the John van Bergen Co. of San Francisco. The name worked well in the early California and Nevada trade, fitting well with miners and settlers. The Gold Dust name however, is in reference to the famous horse depicted in the trademark, and embossed boldly on the bottle.
