This is a walnut hand carved picture frame from the Victorian period, made for 8 x 10 images. It features a nice leaf and fleur de lis pattern at the corners. The inner border is gold painted. There is glass, and the backing is made from two slat boards. The back has most of a paper label from H.P. Moore, hand signed by one of his agents. Moore, at the time was the only U.S. maker of Silvertype, a process he used to print many of his Civil War photograhs. No print is present in the frame, but the framing was probably done around the time of Moore's photography, in the late 1800's. There is newer picture wire in back for hanging. The dimensions are 12 w x 14 h x 2 1/4 d inches. The condition is excellent for its age, with normal paint crazing. * This will make a wonderful antique frame for any old photo or picture.
