AMERICAN GREEN-PAINTED PINE WALL MAP CASE, finely molded frame which is joined with rose-head nails and lap joints at the corners, fitted with two cotter-pin-hinged plank doors concealing a John Wallis 1783 map of the United States of America mounted on the wooden backboard, printed map keys mounted to interior of each door. Two original hanging holes in upper frame. Outstanding original dry painted surface.. Fourth quarter 18th century. 21 1/2" x 25" overall
