SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VA WALNUT COFFEE MILL, dovetailed case with single drawer, applied bladed-edge top and base, hammered copper hopper with folded edge, iron mounts and handle with turned cherry or maple knob. Yellow pine and poplar secondary woods, original brass knob. Excellent original dry natural surface. Probably New Market or possibly Winchester origin. First quarter 19th century. 10 1/4" h overall, case 8" x 8" overall
Provenance: Descended from Major Christian and Betty Rosenberger Shirley, New Market, VA.
Note: Two additional nearly identical mills, each with a copper hopper and New Market family ownership, have been recorded. Original source material exists documenting that the Henkels were purchasing coffee mills from Winchester to sell in their New Market store.

Excellent original condition, minor dent to hopper.
