Continental School, 18th/19th Century

Lot of Four Figural Scenes, Including Death of the Virgin, Artist's Studio, and School of David Scene with Alceste
Artist inscribed "Sa..tti" l.r., Alceste inscribed in the lower margin.
Ink on paper, approximate sheet sizes to 8 3/4 x 15 in. (22.2 x 38.1 cm), unframed.
Condition: Adhered to supporting sheets of paper at corners, toning, staining/soiling, small tears/creases.


Provenance: The estate of John Elliott, Newport, Rhode Island, and Rome.

Condition report

The drawings are mounted at their corners to blue paper. There are several corners that have torn from the sheets. The toning is even and unobtrusive. There is ink and other staining, as well as fox marks. There are minor handling marks and creases.
