GERMAN SWORD MODEL 1833 DRAGOON MEXICAN WAR
Description
Grip has been re-wrapped with leather. The braided wire is not original but proper for the restoration of the 1833 Dragoon. This piece was unearthed near Taxco, Mexico. Taxco is located within the boundries of the last 2 battles of the Mexican-American War in 1847. Those battles were the battles of Molino Del Rey and Chapultepec better known today as Mexico City. If this sword belonged to an American Soldier, which is most likely, they would have been attached to either Gen Pillow, Gen Quitman or Gen. Twiggs in what was to be the final battle of the war. Manufactured by F.W. Holler Solingen Germany and so marked. Also with an original extract of the New England Puritan dated July 29 1847. Relic.
