WWII Japanese Midget Submarine Steering Wheel, Brass and Oak with Japanese Calligraphy.
Recovered by a professional diver in Athol Bight, Sydney Harbour the morning after the Japanese midget submarine raid on Sunday May 31st 1942 and presented to E J Ward. The AWM Canberra exhibits a composite of the two submarines recovered from the harbour showing no wheel attached.
