Description
EMANUEL SUTER (ATTRIBUTED), ROCKINGHAM CO., VA EARTHENWARE VASE, baluster form with a squared rim and pronounced flared foot, later green paint over a light slip wash. Attributed to Emanuel Suter, New Erection Pottery. 1870-1890. 10 1/4" h, 4 3/4" dia rim, 5 1/4" dia foot.

Note: This vase is one of a pair which descended in the Suter family, both of which bear the later green paint. The other example was included in the 1978 EMC Heatwole and Suter pottery exhibit referenced above, and belonged to Miss Katie E. Wenger.
