ABT: Rare Lionel 027 Gauge Prewar Set #7000 for Sea

Paul V. Ambrose and Drew J. Bauer present: This is the #7000 Set in 027 Gauge that Lionel made for Sears Roebuck & Company circa 1939/40. This set included the #1684 Steam Engine, the #02689WX Tender, the #2679 Baby Ruth Boxcar, the #2680 Tank Car, the #1682 Caboose as well as a pair of #1121 Remote Control Switches, a #316 Trestle Bridge and a #1042 Transformer. Our Opinion is that the Set is generally in Excellent Condition. As can be expected, the Original Boxes, except for a solid #316, are rough with some flaps missing. The Set Box is a true rarity and is complete, but has an abundance of masking-tape reinforcing the corners and flaps. A great feature about this Set Box is the label: It is printed with the Lionel "No.7000," identifies Sears Roebuck as the customer and lists the Sears number on the bottom as "No.05960".
