Mahogany Quarter-Chiming Bracket Clock, John Taylor, London, the case with sarcophagus top, five gilt-brass finials and applied swags, gilt corner decoration flanking the dial opening with sound frets, carrying handles and gilt-brass side sound vents, foliate decoration and scrolled feet on the base, 8-inch composite brass dial with applied spandrels, chapter section with Roman numerals and engraved John Taylor, London, center calendar with brass hand, "Strike-Silent" dial in the arch, eight-day, three-train, fusee movement chiming quarters on nine bells, verge escapement and fully engraved backplate, ht. 24 in., (restoration).
Condition report
Condition: Finial plinth and solid fret at top of case are replacements, finials probably replaced, some veneer repairs and an added oak backing on front door, movement appears to be complete but in need of an overhaul, steel hands appear to be the original.
