Mechanical bisque Doll and Marottes: (1) Gebruder Knoch mechanical bisque doll, German, c.1900, impressed 179 11/0 GK, fixed blue eyes, open mouth, brunette wig (original blond underneath), with armatured body and wooden lower limbs, metal cymbals to hands, press chest mechanism causing squeaking noise and allowing cymbals to play, hairline extending from left ear lobe to rear neck socket (chip of bisque is missing here), right leg detached but present, silk and lace elaborate costume with velvet pom-pom detail - shredding, navy blue bonnet, 13"/33cm; (2) Marotte, bisque head, impressed 15/0, fixed brown eyes (re-affixed with visible glue), open mouth, metal body housing stick mounted musical box, when twirled plays Here We Go Round The Mulberrry Bush, dressed as court jester in green and red brocade, hairline to left forehead, 13"/33cm; (3) Marotte, bisque head, German, impressed 168, painted features, pointed moulded hat, affixed to wooden pole, wooden and metal armatured body, seated upon celluloid ball housing musical mechanism (partially inoperative), holding pair of bells, small handle to base - when wound figure twirls and music plays, minor chips to neck rim, top of hat rubbed, clothing discoloured, 12.5"/32cm.
