Description
Obsolete CurrencyVery Rare City Bank $10 Proof
Philadelphia, PA, The City Bank, $10, India Paper Proof on Card, Choice.
Haxby PA-400 G8a SENC. PRF-R7. A very rare proof type with only four examples once confined to a solitary sheet in the 1990 ABNCo. Sale held at Christie's. The sheet was purchased by Herb and Martha Schingoethe, who cut the sheet, and subsequently sold off single notes. This top position, Plate A note, is the last available with the other three proofs firmly in other collections. Superbly styled by Danforth, Wright & Co. in the late 1850's. Red protector "TEN" across the bottom center with supported arms at the top center. A superb impression that appears perfect at first glance. We report a small tack hole at the upper right corner tip, difficult to see at first. Considering the great rarity and beauty, this is a trivial encumbrance.
