Description
On buffalo hide circa 1870. Early examples of this style of functional horse gear, the martingale has early bead colors including teal and periwinkle. The edges are bound in trade cloth. Minor bead loss on edges. Pictured in A Window on the Past, Volume II documenting the collection of John Painter (page 62). Provenance: Wayne & Nancy Badovmus Collection to John Painter. A set of the Painter books is included with the martingale. 34.25" long.
