Manuscript Document Signed, "Clark H. Rennick, 1st Lieut. 35th U.S.C.Troops Comdg. Compy" later Capt. 103rd U.S.C.T., and countersigned by Edward Dove, Adjt. 35 U.S.C. Troops, 1p. folio, Camp Co 'A' 35th U.SCT, at Ft. Foster, Jacksonville, September 30, 1864, and reads "I certify on honor, that on the 9th day of July 1864 at Johns Island, S.C., the stores enumerated below were lost under the following circumstances: The Regiment to which my company belongs was directed to advance under the fire of the enemy to take a certain position: in so doing, one non commissioned officer and two privates were severely wounded. The arms & equipments carried by two of these men were left on the field as we were repulsed, and they could not be recovered...." Includes list of accouterments, including two Springfield Rifles, with belt plates and cartridge boxes. About VG.
