American Late Classical Mahogany Tall-Post Bed

American Late Classical Mahogany Tall-Post Bedstead, second quarter 19th century, each segmented carved post with pineapple finials and turned sections separating elements in foliate, fruit and fluted decor, the headboard with a scrolling top rail over a pair of panels, h. 89", inside w. 52", l. 77", outside w. 57", l. 82-1/2".

In good condition and appears to retain its original finish. The posts are very well carved and feature an unusual carved fruit basket on each post. There are minor scuffs and dings from use. The rails are new replacements--copied from the originals, but made longer to accommodate a full-size box spring and mattress. The rail is lacking the bolt nut. Six of the brass bolt covers are lacking.
