December 22, 1860, Manuscript Document, Being the Sale of a Georgia Estate, Including the Hire of 4 Named Slaves, Extremely Fine.
This original, handwritten, 12.25" x 7.75" document is an accounting of the sale of the personal property of Joshua Riggins, deceased, in Upson County, Georgia. This account fills 7 pages on 4 sheets of blue, lined paper (184 entries), and includes the hiring out of slaves George, Joe, Peter and Tom, to named individuals. One of the buyers in this sale appears to have been the widow of Joshua Riggins. The back page contains docketing and also a list of land belonging to Joshua Riggins, which was also sold. This document is in excellent condition, with some small separations along the spine fold and some toning along the back page folds.
