
TWO PAIRS OF SHOES AND PAIR OF GLOVES
Description
Pair of very early, hand-cobbled brown leather tie shoes with ribbon laces, heavy duty, thick leather soles with hand stitched leather heel, probably for a boy. 4" in length, 1 3/8" at the widest. Inscribed in ink on both soles Made in 1797//for//Dwight Jarvis. Leather a little stiff, a bit of insect damage, but largely intact. Pair of black patent leather shoes for a child with ankle strap, thick leather sole, elastic gussets at the instep, trimmed with three white china buttons, 4 1/4" long by 1 1/2" at widest. Circa 1900. Leather is rather stiff, one black shoe button missing. Pair of brown silk gloves, probably for a child but would fit a large doll. Some damage to fingertips, buttons missing but easily replaced. Circa 1900. Very interesting lot with 210-year-old shoes that might fit a large china or papier mache doll, later shoes that would look nice on any bisque head doll and gloves that would look lovely on a large Jumeau.
