Description
Fine micromosaic fringe necklace in the Etruscan style, from Suscipi, Roma, mid 19th c., with matching earrings: twenty-four panels, each 15 mm, x 8.2 mm, depicting doves and branches on a black field, interspersed by twenty-six bars of turquoise and white mosaic decoration. Details include individual shaped tesserae in three to four colors for the eyes, beaks and blossoms, irredscent glass, gold and silver wire depicting stems and plummage, and shot and bead decorations, the bead and ring chain with double hook clasp, the earrings fitted with later screw backs, all on the original box.
