A Very Fine Chinese Carved Boxwood Wall
Description
Boxwood wall finely carved to depict openwork with large protruding dragon head with smaller protruding dragon heads to one side, other side finely carved with openwork to depict numerous Phoenix birds. Openwork railing with scrolling designs, and rests on four columns to either side with dragon carvings. Faux "bells" hang throughout and top with openwork railing followed by miniature dragons on eight corners. Carved crest adorns very top with openwork and what appears to be a sun carving. 16.25" H x 21.75" W. Excellent condition, 20th century. Private collection Royal Oak, Michigan.
