Production Description:
This spectacular Matte Painting was featured in the first season Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Menagerie, Part I". This painting features the landscape of Starbase 11, where the crew beams down to in the first act of the episode. The plaque on the painting incorrectly states that it is from "Wink of an Eye" and will be removed by the restorers. These painting were used by filmmakers to create the illusion of an environment that would otherwise be too expensive or impossible to build or visit. Historically, matte painters and film technicians have used various techniques to combine a matte-painted image with live-action footage. This painting has received minor professional restoration by Anthony Restorations.

Item is made of a thin piece of hard wood with painted acrylic's on the front. Has a silver metal plaque on the front with a hole on the top of the painting. Item measures 39in x 32in.
