Custom-built model of an early design concept for the starship Excelsior in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. This model was built at Industrial Light and Magic during a planning for Star Trek III. The model was later filmed as wreckage for the "starship graveyard" scene of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II."
Technical Description:
Made from sheet and vacuum-formed plastic. One wingtip is missing. Wings and engine pods show evidence of Having been damaged and repaired. Measures approximately 21in long.
