Some of these collections are from the the Yamanaka & Co. in Japan, and we will mark them in the description.
Founded in 1902,the Yamanaka & Co. had previously established branches in many cities in Europe and the United States. During this time, the Yamanaka & Co. formed deep friendships with many Western scholars, tycoons, collectors and museums, and made careful preparations to further open up the world market. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Yamanaka & Co. entered China and began collecting and selling Chinese artifacts, becoming the largest Japanese antique chamber of commerce in China at the time. In 1912, the Yamanaka & Co. fulfilled an order that countless antique chambers had only dreamed of but could not achieve in their lifetime. It acquired the entire collection of the Gong Palace except for paintings and calligraphy. The collection was quickly shipped back to Japan, sorted and divided into three lots, one to be auctioned in the United States, one to be auctioned in England, and one to remain in Yamanaka Shokai's antique stores in Japan and the United States for retail sale. This move catapulted Yamanaka Shokai into one of the most successful Asian art and antique houses in the world.
