Description
AN ITALIAN ROCOCO STYLE FIGURED WALNUT SECRETAIRE
19th Century
The broken swan pediment with molded conforming cornice is supported by a sepentine shaped body with a pair of shaped locking mirrored doors veneered in figured walnut with an inlaid stringer of straight grain walnut and moulded astragal. The interior of the upper cabinet is lined with fabric. The lower cabinet features a diminutive locking slant front desk with figured walnut with banded edge and opens to revealed a veneered writing surface and four drawers and a single center door. The concaved serpentine frieze is supported by a pair of doors constructed to appear as three drawers. Each faux drawer with a panelized front and moulded separations and bronze handles, the whole raised on rounded bracket feet.

Minor veneer losses and minor chipping around hinges. 83 x 32 x 19 inches (210.8 x 81.3 x 48.3 cm)
