Description
A fine silver shore bird cane on malacca. Made of one piece of stepped malacca, it has a crook handle that measures about 7 1/2" along the arc and is 7/8" at its widest. The head of a 3 1/2" silver shorebird with red glass eyes and a short curved bill, is at the end of the crook. It has nicely detailed feathering and there are worn Continental hallmarks. The stepped malacca shaft ends with a 1" bi-metal ferrule. The overall length is 33 2/3" and the condition is very good with the finish on the shaft worn down at the crook, from years of handling. It is ca 1885, and it is a nice silver figural example. Estimate: $650-$850.
