Qing Dynasty, finely cast copper body, gilded elephant foot tripod incense burner[Specifications] Height 44.5cm, diameter 23.8cm, belly diameter 36cm, weight 8.65kg[Inscription] Made by Emperor Qianlong[Details]This tripod-shaped incense burner is connected to a two-layer round pavilion-shaped incense cover, which is detachable. The top of the cover is equipped with a hollow cloud dragon as a button, the cover surface is carved with cloud dragon patterns, and the edge of the cover is inlaid with turquoise and decorated with lotus patterns; the lower layer of the incense cover is designed with a light-opening design, hollow carvings of longevity patterns, and lotus patterns on the outside; the edge is decorated with longevity patterns, and inlaid with turquoise decorations, which is magnificent. The incense burner body is cylindrical, and the bottom supports three elephant feet; the elephant head is in a bowing position, wearing a brocade ribbon on the head, decorated with turquoise, fan ears, high forehead and narrow eyes, double teeth like swords, and a long nose curled inward as a foot, which is stable and majestic. The whole vessel is gilded, the gold is first-rate, rich and lustrous, and the gems are exquisite and bright, showing the elegance and luxury. Such exquisite vessels must be used for royal furnishings, and also for decoration of imperial banquets and ceremonies. Emperor Qianlong was deeply devoted to Buddhism and often regarded himself as the emperor with a heart of Buddha. Buddhists have always regarded precious elephants as holy auspicious signs. The furnace is made of elephant heads, which shows the sincerity of believers. Wisps of green smoke are slowly exhaled, and the auspicious smoke is lingering in the air, mysterious and solemn. The bottom is engraved with "Made by Qianlong".
