Volkstedt Porcelain Conversation Group, c 1920. Measures 15.5"w by 11.5"h. This is a typical German porcelain figure group from the early years of the 20th century in 18th century style. The lace is made by soaking cotton lace in liquid clay (slip) applying it to the figure and firing it, in which the cotton burns out leaving the trace outline.

Man has a broken finger, apart from that there is no damage on the piece.
