A 5½IN. JAPANESE STAR GLOBE RECOVERED FROM THE JAPANESE NAVAL COLLEGE, HIROSHIMA, 1945
the paper-covered globe marked and inscribed in English and Japanese, with aluminium meridian and horizon rings, contained within fitted wooden box of issue with Japanese instructions inside lid and maker's label to front, securing hooks and carry handle -- 8in. (20cm.) square overall; together with a fragment of melt-glass recovered from the site, contained within a lead pot

Provenance: Recovered by Captain A. Rodger, Occupation Forces, and thence by descent. Capt. Rodger was employed by P&O and, after service returned to the Line where he rose to Marine Superintendent.

Condition
Globe is in excellent overall condition, as is the box which bears just a few scuffs and marks commensurate with age.
