a Very Fine carved wooden mask of "Mephistopheles' By Artist Laur Crouzen, An accomplished mask maker who resides in Bali, Indonesia. A Fantastic contemporary version of the ethereal demon Mephisto(Mephistopheles) from the old Germanic mythological texts. This mask is beyond anything I have ever seen.Expertly-carved and painted with exquisite detail in lavish colors and designs that resemble both Maori and Balinese HIndu traditions. The tongue, crown and ears are made from latticed gold painted leather and the hair is raven horse tail. There are strands of various beads dangling from the edges and a stone set in the Third Eye, as well. The face is human sized and with the hair measures approximately 27" in height by 12" in width. There is a metal signature plate stating that this is 3 of only 8 masks made.
