Description
7 ½”h., ovoid shaped jug, interesting freehand cobalt blue peach, or apple, with two leaves, hanging like a medallion around the neck, the neck decorated with horizontal rings of cobalt blue, having a 18th c., rounded tapered collar much like the chestnut bottles made at Wistarberg; the clay is amazing, probably from the Woodbridge vein, as it is gray blue to tan, to a pinkish tan; possibly made in Old Bridge, NJ, at the James Morgan Kiln c. 1797-1812, rare size,with unusual decorative motif and very attractive.
Condition
Perfect condition, showing a natural gray blue to a pink tan coloration in the clay.
