732. WALT DISNEY (1901-1966). American cartoon artist and entrepreneurial visionary; producer of animated films and winner of 39 Academy Awards; produced first animated film with sound, Steamboat Willie (1928), which introduced Mickey Mouse to the world; built world-renowned theme parks in Anaheim and Orlando. Vintage TLS "Walt," 1p, 7¼"x10½", n.p., Jan 29, 1937. On his embossed personal letterhead to Academy Award winning screenwriter Howard Estabrook. Disney regrets that Estabrook could not make the Junior Chamber of Commerce dinner, "but I can very well appreciate what it is to have a bunch of work to get out. Many thanks for your congratulations and good wishes -- they're deeply appreciated..." Darkly signed. Fine example. On Dec 21 of that same year, Disney would release Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated feature, still accounted one of the great feats of motion picture history.
