Description
A large North German folding knife for hunting use, dated 1699Sturdy single-edged blade swelling towards the retracted point. The obverse with traces of rich ornamental etching, two barely legible hunting mottos, the upper one with the year "1699", an allegorical figure, and a monogram cartouche. Four smith marks in the form of anchors struck on one side. Robust iron bolster, the brass ferrule with engraved tulips. Grip with chiselled spring plate and massive riveted staghorn grip panels (one brass rivet missing). Pommel with attached movable lanyard ring. Length closed 41 cm, opened 76 cm.Condition: II -
