oil on canvas, depicting sheep and cows in an English landscape, signed and dated 1861, the ornate giltwood frame decorated with acanthus leaves, shellwork and flowers, with a plaquette inscribed 'Herbert Desvignes 1861', the reverse with old Christie's stencilled inventory number 'KK349', also with an old paper label in French stating that the artist exhibited in the Royal Academy from 1833-1863,
