Elvis Presley 1.00ctw Diamond and 14K Yellow Gold TCB Necklace Gifted to Sammy Davis Jr. W/(3) Letters of Provenance - This diamond and yellow gold TCB necklace was designed by Elvis Presley, who gifted the piece to friend and fellow entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. Elvis and Priscilla Presley designed what would become the iconic TCB logo while on a flying through a storm on the way to a concert and they saw lightning outside of the plane's window. Elvis and Priscilla commissioned jewelers to create necklaces with the logo for all of the members of Elvis' entourage, the Memphis Mafia, and later the TLC pendants for the important women in his life. This necklace is crafted in 14k yellow gold and is fully lined with diamonds totaling approximately 1 carat. The majority of the TCB necklaces were simply made of gold, and this is thought to be one of only seven ever made with diamonds. After Sammy Davis Jr.'s death, this necklace was one of several items inherited by his wife, Altovise Davis. The necklace comes with a certified copy of a letter from Mrs. Davis documenting the sale of this necklace along with several other pieces. The lot also includes a handwritten letter of provenance from a collector who states that they met Mrs. Davis in Los Angeles in 1991 when she was at the Butterfield and Butterfield auction trying to persuade people not to buy the items that were taken from her husband by the IRS. According to the letter, "'I gave her my information and we later communicated and I made several deals with her obtaining original items of Sammy Davis Jr. and original items of Elvis Presley that were gifted to Sammy Davis Jr. and his wife Altovise Davis."
