Description
This is an exquisite, vividly colored map commissioned by Drury College circa 1879. It illustrates the counties and borders of the then considered Southwestern states, including Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma). It also depicts portions of Illinois, Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee and Indiana, and features the mission statement of Drury College along with a black and white image of one of the school's most elegant buildings, Walter Fairbanks Hall. A quote by Daniel Webster, encouraging Americans to support the establishment of educational institutions in the West, is also displayed prominently at the top of the map. Image: 40 - 1/4" height x 27 - 1/2" wide. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.
