Item Details
Description
The Reluctant Dragon, "How to Ride a Horse" Goofy Courvoisier Production Cel Setup (1941). The Reluctant Dragon is a 1941 live-action/animated film produced by Walt Disney, directed by Alfred Werker for live-action and Hamilton Luske for animation. The film was essentially a tour of the then, new Walt Disney Studios facility in Burbank, CA. Most of the film is live-action, with four short animated segments inserted into the running time: a specially-produced black-and-white segment featuring the "Casey Junior" train from Dumbo; and three Technicolor cartoons: "Baby Weems", "How to Ride a Horse", and the extended-length short, "The Reluctant Dragon".

Presented in this lot is a terrific Courvoisier setup featuring Goofy from the "How to Ride a Horse" segment. The characters are trimmed to image, paired with a airbrush background and matted to an image size of 11-1/4" x 9", the character cels measure approx. 1-3/4" x 4-1/2" and 4-1/2" x 4-1/2". Cel was restored back in 1980 according to the notation on the back. Some glue spots, areas of paint separation and cracking, and yellowing to the trimmed character cels. Courvoisier COA is included on the verso.
