Description

A good George III pierced silver Neo Classical covered two-handled butter dish Richard Morton & Co, Sheffield 1778 Oval form with upper and lower bead rims, the pierced sides with a band of vitruvian scrolls above and below a central band of scrolls, anthemions interspersed with classical urns, the rim with upswept handles either side embellished with a leaf motif, the lift-off cover with a pierced band of ovolo motifs, stepped centre with bead rim and raised lappet dome surmounted with acorn finial, with engraved crest an Enfield statant vert, with blue glass liner, length handle to handle 19.8cm, weight 9.4oz.
