SCRAPBOOK PERTAINING TO WORLD WAR II NAVY FLEET ADMIRAL WILLIAM HALSEY Includes approx. 24 black and white photographs of Halsey, the U.S.S. Enterprise, Navy planes and battle scenes, as well as a commemoration of the Enterprise's action against Japanese forces and twelve folding cards from the "Aircraft of the World" series, mostly on American combat aircraft. Contained in a brown faux leather photo album. Most photographs 8" x 10". Album 11.5" x 11.5". William "Bull" F. Halsey (1882-1959) is only one of four people to have attained the rank of Fleet Admiral of the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1904, served in the Great White Fleet, and commanded a destroyer during World War I. During World War II, on his flagship Enterprise, he commanded forces that raided Japanese-held targets in the Pacific, notably at Guadalcanal, the Solomon chain and Leyte Gulf.
