Ancient Near East / Central Asia, Neo-Assyrian, ca. 8th to 7th century BCE; Parthian to Sassanian Empire, ca. 200 BCE to 600 CE. A pair of stone stamp seal beads each with drilled suspension holes; one carved from a translucent quartz /rock crystal and the other carved from an opaque chalcedony. The rock crystal face is highly stylized, and possibly represents a fire altar. The Chalcedony has an elongated handle grip, and the ovoid face contains a standing figure, a star above and vertical lines. The scene probably symbolizes a Zoroastrian deity or leader at an altar. Size of larger: 1" L x 0.8" W (2.5 cm x 2 cm)
