A sabre for officers of the Hussars, Brandenburg-Ansbach, 2nd half of the 18th centuryBroad, slightly curved single-edged blade (pitted) with fuller on each side, three grooves, yelmen and false edge, the base of the blade etched on the obverse with monogram "CFCA" of Margrave Christian Friedrich Carl Alexander von Brandenburg-Ansbach, framed by the inscriptions "OMNIA EX AMORE" and "NIHIL EX TIMORE", the reverse with etched hussar on horseback, surrounded by the inscriptions "FORTUNA FAVENSEND TOLLER" and "FORTUNA TONIG NON MEIGO". Brass knuckle-bow hilt with leather-covered grip (a star-shaped decorative rivet on the reverse). In a scabbard with black leather cover, wooden centre and subtly decorated brass fittings (chased blossoms and volutes on both sides), two movable suspension rings. Brass parts with consistent dark patina. Traces of use and age. Length 93 cm.Completely old, beautifully preserved and rare edged weapon.Condition: II
