Le comte d'Artois enfant soutenant Mlle Clotilde montée sur une chèvre (Royal Children Count Charles Philippe and Mademoiselle Clotilde on a Goat).
Engraving 1767, by Jacques Firmin Beauvarlet (1731-1797) after the 1763 painting by Franois-Hubert Drouais (1727-1775).
Charles Philippe, Count of Artois (1757 - 1836) was King of France Charles X, from 1824 to 1830. His sister Marie Clotilde (1759- 1802), was Queen of Sardinia-Piedmont.
Charming antique engraving has two coats of arms below the image and inscriptions:
Painted by Drouais Painter of Roy. Engraved by Beauvarlet Graveur du Roy, in 1767. Presented and Dedicated to Monsiegneur the Count of Artois, and to Madame, by their very humble and very faithful servant Jacques Beauvarlet in Paris at the Authors rue Saint Jacques opposite the rue des Mathurins.
Dimensions: Sight 19.5x 14, Frame 30 x 24 inches, approximately.

François-Hubert Drouais (French, 1727-1775) was a leading French portrait painter during the reign of Louis XV.

Matted, in a gilt frame. In very good condition, mounted, withtoning and minor imperfections mostly concealed by mat and imperfections to frame as shown.
