Jill Peabody and Leon Uris were married in 1970 when she was 22 years old. Jill was 14 when she first read Exodus: I remember being in bed with the covers pulled up over me with a flashlight because lights were out at 10 o'clock, and I was reading Exodus and falling in love with Ari Ben Canaan way before I knew I would meet Leon Uris. (2003 NPR interview).
