The wall plaque is handmade and hand-painted featuring a portrait of Michelangelo Buonarroti, 1475–1564, Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet, named Michelangelo for Michael the Archangel. For signature he used the older Tuscan spelling, Michelangiolo or Michelagniolo. Hence, the name on verso.
Della Robbia were a Florentine Renaissance sculptors, noted for terracotta roundel plaques, for centuries produced in Montelupo Fiorentino.
