Description:Large Signed Howard Rogers Original Watercolor Pulp Fiction Romance Novel Illustration Art Painting Circa 1960’s. Classic romantic-conflict scene displaying the contrast of protagonists and antagonists, differentiated by the warm and cold hues, respectively. An illustrator and fine art painter specializing in female nude figure, Howard Rogers grew up in San Diego, California the child of a cobbler and department store clerk who encouraged him at a young age to pursue his talents. As a child Rogers loved drawing calendar girls and horses which he observed when he visited his uncle's farm in Oregon over summer vacations. His proximity to Hollywood made for an easy parlay of his favored artistic style into artwork for the film industry, as seen in this spectacular piece. His influence by the renowned McClelland Barclay is especially evident in this particular artwork, perhaps more so than any other piece of his. This piece is laid down on board, and includes a fabric mat, but is not framed.

Hallmarks or Signature: H. Rogers signed bottom-middle.

Condition of piece: Mat is slightly dirty, though this will clean. The back board displays moderate foxing though this is NOT the back of the artwork and is easily replaced. No foxing, moisture damage, or other negative conditions to report on the artwork itself.

Size: Mat: 24.25 x 30.5 inches; Artwork: 17 x 23.5 inches.
