NOTES / REFERENCES: Ugo Zaccagnini studied at the Scuola di Disegno Industriale in Siesto Fiorentino.Until 1891 he worked as a sculptor and modeler in the Richard-Ginori ceramics factory. In 1905 he opened his own factory under the name, Ugo Zaccagnini e Figli, with headquarters in Florence, producing ceramics in the the Liberty style. After his death in 1937 the company was transferred to his son Urbano. In 1958 Urbano, left the company to open his own ceramics studio, “Urbano Zaccagnini Ceramiche Artistiche ". Urbano died in 1964. Pieces containing the written script “Zaccagnini” were first used in 1938. Sometimes the signature mark was used in conjunction with the more famous “Z” with the squiggle. After Urbano died the signature logo replaced the “Z” completely.
The Marbro Lamp Company was established by Morris Markoff and his brother after World War II, located in the garment district of Los Angeles. They specialized in a wide selection of antiques and decorative arts accessories, but are best known for their lamps. The lamps use parts sourced from all over the world, however, and were assembled in their shop.
