Oil on canvas. Framed.
Signed, lower left: Einar C. Petersen. Titled: "Harbor Activity" and signed again on the reverse.
A complex and active composition showing men at work on the docks of Los Angeles, loading a large white ship, using an industrial crane. An American flag is painted on the hull and dark smoke billowing from the crane. Circa 1940 - 1945.

NOTES / REFERENCES: Einar C. Petersen (1885-1986). Painter, muralist. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 17, 1885. Petersen served an apprenticeship in his native city and, on a scholarship from the Danish Government, studied art for several years in Paris, Rome, and Munich while working as a decorator. He immigrated to America in 1912 and worked in Nebraska, Oregon, and Washington before settling in Los Angeles in 1916. He died there on December 6, 1986.
