This is a vintage Primitive Native Canadian Figurine.It shows a face of native man and a turtle.The sculpture shows the connection between man and the nature.It is signed on the bottom Lori Laforme.I've seen figures like this one are made by Canadian Iroquois people. Iroquois sculpture usually reflects the mythology, culture & histories of the 'People of the Longhouses'. Figurative works are often meant to celebrate the guardians of the harvest or what is referred to as the 'Three Sisters'. Wildlife sculpture is often paying homage to Clan affiliations and other cultural beliefs. Noted for the superior workmanship and attention to detail, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Art is highly regarded within the First Nations art world.The carving is app. 4 1/2" long and 3" tall.It is in good vintage condition with small inperfections.Simply gorgeous!
